message from Coach Kidera.

Kidera

2013-2014 had turned out to be another remarkable year! We had a record number of eighty-seven junior participants. This was all made possible by the wonderful teamwork beginning from the staff at Kiarti Thanee country club, additional coaches both from Japan and Thailand, the dance and pilates instructors, our staff from APF & Santa Tennis Academy, and for the former and current professionals who set their schedule each year to participate at the allout camp.

This being my third year, I reflected upon the previous 2012-13 letter to see what similarities and or differences I had noticed. I believe my three areas of contribution where I had focused last year had not drastically changed, but were met with more energy and purpose.

1. As an interpreter, I felt this year was to not only translate the words or meaning of the subject, but to also convey the emotion. The words expressed with feeling and enthusiasm which helped engage students of younger age and helped the older students stay focused. Every year I am supported by other students who speak multiple languages that makes my role a bit easier. Likewise, we were fortunate to have several parents who stayed around the camp to help support their own child, but also aided the other international students as well.

2. Being that the allout theme this year was the ‘you’ one year from now, the English presentation focused on ‘Routine & Success.’ Much of the presentation was influenced by Ann Quinn (Director of Quintessential Edge London, UK) titled ‘Success routines.’ The importance of having positive daily habits both on and off court including mental habits help to create a strong foundation for more successful athletes. I hope a year from the final day of camp those athletes who truly listened to the message create their own meaningful routines.

3. Finally, the goal this year was to bring more positive energy. For example, similar to last year we had a special dance event focusing on rhythm and footwork. Many athletes at first felt confused and shy towards something completely unfamiliar. Therefore bringing that extra fun energy in the midst of hesitancy allowed everyone to feel more at ease. The outcome was phenomenal. When good energy is projected from within, the ability to share energy with others becomes possible.Through a simple smile, a kind gesture, laugh, handshake or even a hug.

Every year we run into challenges and this year was without exception. Treating injured or sick athletes, transportation error, and flight delays were all handled carefully and professionally. The obstacles faced when faced together as a team help to create a stronger community and makes people grow stronger.
2013-2014 has been and will continue to be a tremendous growing year which I hope to bring to our next camp in 2014-2015. I am very excited and look forward to new and familiar faces. Two weeks go by so quickly when engaged in the ‘moment.’ I believe each student had left the camp with something very special.

I thank all coaching staff, staff members at the Kiarti Thanee Country club, parents, professional, and tennis enthusiasts for making every year better than the previous year.

sincerely,
